About this project
Why I chose this costume
How I made this costume
At the start of Covid, I fell into the Genshin addiction much like the rest of the community, and immediately became attached to this feral wolf boy. This project was my first larger undertaking that would involve not only foam work, but also props, pattering and sewing. I wanted to challenge myself to larger builds and something that I would be proud of for years to come.
Materials used:
- fabric
- faux fur
- faux leather
- 3D prints
- EVA craft foam
- beads
- wooden rods
The cape was by far the most challenging piece. The base was all done in a black felt, then layered with brown and grey strips to create a layered look for the cloak pattern. The hood was also made from a grey felt, and only attached at either side to create a large hole in the center for his wig to poke through. The cloak was then shaded and weathered with an airbrush to add wear and tear and make the detailing pop.
The belts and shoulder pads are all faux leather backed with EVA foam with worbla covered foam buckles and the ends. The strips were stitched along the side to help add to the leather strap look.
The pants were thrifted then died an olive green and hand painted from their original white.
The boots were also thrifted, and heavily altered with straps and leather.
The gloves are two separate pieces. The under layer is a foam piece of armor and the outer layer is a stretch fabric lined with leather strips at the top to keep the shape.
The bone necklace and strands are all leather strips with EVA foam textured and painted to look like bone.
